Formation

Ocean Jasper formed millions of years ago through volcanic activity, where silica-rich fluids filled cavities within rhyolite. This created the distinctive orbicular (circular) patterns in shades of green, purple, white, yellow, brown, blue, red and pink.

Despite its name, Ocean Jasper is not a true jasper. It is a rare variety of orbicular rhyolite found only along the north-west coast of Madagascar. The original deposits are no longer actively mined, making genuine Ocean Jasper increasingly sought after by collectors.
