Blue Lace Agate is a rarer type of banded Chalcedony and a mineral of the Quartz family. The major mines located in Namibia, Africa are mostly exhausted with lower supply driving the price of Blue Lace Agate very high.
Agates are formed as silica within cavities of volcanic and plutonic igneous rocks when gases are trapped in molten lava over thousands of years.
The blue lace pattern occurs in a very slow process where a layer of silica-rich solution solidifies and more deposit occurs on top until the cavity is filled ~ results in banding found in Agate
