Cavansite with Heulandite & Basalt Cluster

A cluster with a prominant round Cavansite in the middle and 2 smaller ones on the back amongst sparkling Heulandite on a volcanic basalt matrix.

Cavansite is named after its composition of calcium vanadium silicate. It is a rare mineral due to being polymorphic in that it can crystallise into more than one structure including Pentagonite.

Although small, they have a distinctive vibrant blue colour that forms into a ball structure with an orthorhombic system and tiny needle-like spikes. Cavansites are often found with Zeolite crystals on a basalt rock matrix and extracted from cavities of volcanic rock
