Moldavite is a natural tektite rather than a true mineral. It formed when a large meteorite struck what is now southern Germany, melting terrestrial rock that was ejected high into the atmosphere before rapidly cooling into natural glass. Most Moldavite is recovered from Bohemia and Moravia in the Czech Republic.

Each piece has naturally sculpted surfaces produced by millions of years of weathering. Colours range from olive green to bottle green and may contain bubbles, flow lines and natural inclusions formed during cooling.
