Botswana Agate is a Chalcedony which is part of the Quartz family and is found in Botswana located in southern Africa.  It is formed in volcanic lava where water flows through cavities caused by gas pockets. Chalcedony layers are then formed to create the distinctive banding pattern of Botswana Agate.
